Privacy Policy

Audiobook Player is built to keep your books and listening data private.

Overview

Audiobook Player is a privacy-first iOS audiobook player. There are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. Your books and listening history stay on your device.

What we collect

Anonymous usage counts, nothing else. To understand which features matter, the app may send the developer a small set of anonymous events:

  • A random install ID generated on your device. It is not derived from and cannot be linked to you, your Apple Account, or your device identity.
  • Event names such as app_open, book_finished, skip_silence_used, sleep_timer_used, or import_completed, with timestamps.
  • The app version and iOS version.

The app never collects book titles, file names, audio content, listening history, position, location, contacts, or identifiers tied to you. Anonymous events go to a server operated by the developer and are used only to decide what to improve next.

You can turn this off. In the app, open Settings → Privacy and disable “Share Anonymous Usage Stats.” The app will then send no usage events.

What stays on your device

The following information is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad:

  • Audiobook files you import through Files, AirDrop, Wi-Fi upload, URL download, or a share extension.
  • Listening progress, bookmarks, folders, and metadata you create.
  • Playback preferences, including speed, equalizer, and sleep timer history.
  • Listening statistics, including daily, weekly, and lifetime totals and streaks.
  • A purchase receipt for the Skip Silence upgrade, managed by Apple’s StoreKit.

This data is not synced by the developer. If you uninstall the app, local data is deleted. Your device’s iCloud backup behavior is controlled by your Apple settings; the app does not independently upload your library to iCloud.

Network requests

  • URL download: When you provide a Dropbox, Google Drive, or other file link, the app downloads the audiobook from that address.
  • Wi-Fi upload: The app can run a small web server on your local Wi-Fi network while the upload screen is open. This traffic does not leave your local network.
  • Your media servers: If you connect an Audiobookshelf or Jellyfin server, the app communicates directly with the address you provide. The sign-in token is stored in the device Keychain, and your password is not stored.
  • StoreKit: Apple processes the Skip Silence purchase. The developer does not receive your Apple Account or payment information.

Other than the optional anonymous usage events described above, the app has no background analytics SDK or third-party crash reporter.

In-app purchase

Skip Silence is a one-time purchase handled through Apple’s StoreKit. The app stores only whether the feature is unlocked.

Children

The app does not target children under 13 and does not collect personal data from anyone. It contains no audiobook content of its own; users choose the audio files in their library.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
